The Creators
Story Gatherers is built by a mom and daughter team with a belief that imagination is something to be encouraged, built on, and brought to life.
Our passion for sharing stories began in A’s early years. We would lay in bed and she wouldn’t ask for a book to be read but for the tiny blank toy book she got from a bundle of items on our Buy Nothing Group. We would pull that yellow and blue book off its spot on our head board and she would hold it in her little hands. Looking closely as if she could read its pages, no bigger than a nickel, and she would tell her story. She had such elaborate stories. We would laugh, and she would pass the book to me. Leaning forward, her chin in her hands and elbows on her knees she would look at me with bright eyes while I had my turn to tell the story I had in me that day.
Now as A has grown, she lost a bit of her love for stories when reading and writing became a challenge in school. She had reached a point that she despised writing so much, I couldn’t even get her to try to write a single word. I spent many nights trying to think of ways that I could make her love of books, writing and art still thrive. So here we are. Story Gatherers. We search for the stories within us and bring those stories to you!
Through our videos we make writing and reading happen along side creativity. We created a few printable sheets and member kits that can follow along with our videos. This gives children a few options that helps see writing as fun. Watch us write and create, draw along making your own stories, or write them out too. With your own printed kits, we invite you as families to build stories together whether that be following along on YouTube or creating on your own. We invite you to play, to enjoy the creative process and to keep your child’s imagination alive.
We are not formal educators, and we don’t pretend to be. We are here to build alongside the education system and encourage the parts that sometimes get pushed to the side. So, let’s play!
